Moving? How to Tell if Your New Home’s Equipment Should Be Serviced or Replaced

One of the smartest things you can do after moving in is take a closer look at your HVAC system. Because while the paint color and countertops are easy to spot, your heating and cooling equipment? That’s where the real comfort (and potential cost) lives.

Start With What You Know (and What You Don’t)

Most new homeowners don’t get a full backstory on the HVAC system. You might have a rough idea of its age from the inspection, but that doesn’t tell you how well it’s been maintained; or if it’s been limping along for years.

This is one people often overlook; especially right after moving.

If your energy bills feel higher than expected for the size of your home, your HVAC system could be the reason. Older or poorly maintained systems have to work harder to do the same job, which means you’re paying more for less comfort.
